Forbes Magazine says that 82% of the population want to write a book.
You’d be staggered to know that only 0.02% of people actually do get published each year.
The three main reasons I’ve observed for why so few publish their inspirational book is because:
Distractions of modern life—We live such busy lives these days, with kids, businesses, social life, social media and our phones buzzing and dinging us every second of the day, it’s really quite a challenge to create that free time and space for yourself to be creative.
No idea where to start—There are so many fine details in putting together a book that it can seem difficult to put it all together! Formatting, editing, cover designs, spine widths, ISBNs—what a pain in the ass!
Perfectionism—Writing one phrase, sentence or paragraph and then judging it is what slows down so many people. Remember, this is not English literature class, and you are not being judged. Let go of the need for it to be perfect, and allow the words to flow.
I trust this has served you in your book writing journey. I always find that when I can identify exactly what has been holding me back, I can then take action and make decisive steps forward.
